Compassion, Contracts and Common Sense

Disclaimer - I work for an insurance company.

Why the disclaimer? Because I'll be blogging about insurace companies, their policy contracts and common sense. Some of what I write will seem impersonal and lacking of compassion. However, most contracts are impersonal and lacking compassion.

The rage du jour around the coast right now is to force insurance companies to pay for claims that are not covered by the insured's policy. The Mississippi attorney general has filed a lawsuit about this.

According to Mr. Hood, the insurance companies took advantage of the policy holders. He claims that the `wording' of the policy contracts was confusing. Well, most legal documents are a tad confusing. However, our homeowner application clearly states that flood is not covered by that policy.

The next question is why would insurance companies want to trick people into not buying flood insurance? The government provides flood insurance, NOT insurance companies.

While I empathize with the people who have lost their homes, it certainly is not the insurance company's fault that they did not buy flood policies. While some will contend they were told they didn't need it, it is still their decision.

People need to take resposibility for their own actions or lack of actions.

Those Evil Three Little Pigs

Once again, the evil pigs had to be removed from somewhere in England because they may be offensive to Muslims. If you're 7 or over you have access to pig stories. Anything beneath that is a no-no.

This isn't the first time that pigs have been found offensive in England. I wrote about this before.

Gone to eat a bacon sandwich...

COP Guild is COED

OK, I spend way too much time playing Guild Wars. Our modest guild was started by four friends who wanted a `club.'

After 4-5 months of are small guild, we decided to grow the guild. The problem with growing your guild is that most everyone is a n00b. Noob (pronounced: newb) is a label given to people that are new to something. It is often used as a pejorative when your performance is less than stellar.

So I have been recruiting lately. The yield has been mostly positive. But what has amazed me is that we have picked up 2 girls. 1/8 of our guild is occupied by ladies.

My wife despises computers in general, so I was stunned when I learned that we had recruited 2 girls. Which makes me wonder how many GW players are women. A bigger bonus is that the players are actually pretty good.

Accidental Mormon Porn

The Mormon film "Sons of Provo" accidentally had "Adored: Diary of a Porn Star." Which was a film about a porn star that reconnects with his family.

I am not certain what Sons of Provo is about, but I believe it is supposed to be a mormon family film. That had to be a great night in front of the mormon television.

Offensive Pigs

Somewhere in England, pigs were removed from offices at Dudley Council. The removal of the offensive pigs was caused because of their possible offensiveness to Muslim workers.

I'm glad I'm not offended by much. A Jewish guy works in our office, I wonder if he'd get mad if I ate a bacon sandwich in front of him? Political Correctness always brings a smile to my face. :)
